Wheatstone presented a cloud version of Layers Stream running on Amazon Web Services.

Layers Stream software includes stream provisioning, audio processing and metadata support. It’s part of the Layers Software Suite, which also has modules for running instances of FM/HD processing and mixing in cloud data centers such as AWS or on-prem servers.

At the show, Wheatstone demonstrated streaming instances running in AWS that can be brought up and torn down rapidly and controlled through a browser-like interface. Layers Stream includes audio processing for streaming and Lua transformation filters to convert metadata input from an automation system into any output format, including Triton Digital, for transmission to a CDN server.

The Layers suite has an FM module and mix module for radio and TV. Layers Mix has a full-featured mix engine and Glass virtual mixers for the laptop, tablet or touchscreen with routing, logic, automixing and native IP audio integration with automation. Layers modules can be used for remote or REMI applications between studios and cloud centers or for extending studio failover redundancy across multiple data centers.

VOXPRO NOW ONBOARD WHEATSTONE'S LXE AOIP CONSOLE

VoxPro in LXE

Wheatstone’s LXE AoIP console surface is now available with optional VoxPro onboard for a fully integrated mixing, routing, and live editing experience.

Known for its unique jog wheel and other features designed specifically for on-air talent to quickly edit call-ins or interviews, VoxPro is the universal standard for live editing in on-air control rooms and newsrooms worldwide.

The LXE, also a standard in newsrooms and control rooms worldwide, is Wheatstone’s flagship WheatNet IP audio networked console known for its versatility as a modular control surface with programmable “soft” buttons and customizable touchscreens.

Now, with VoxPro jog wheel and controller integrated in line with faders and other controls on the surface of the LXE console, realtime editing is within easy reach instead of in a separate controller off to the side.

In addition to easier access, integrating VoxPro into the LXE console surface reduces workspace clutter and gives talent more tools at their fingertips during editing and recording, including control for routing and salvos.

VoxPro audio recorder/editor can be purchased as a software application with or without a standalone controller unit or as part of the LXE console surface.

Both VoxPro and LXE are made by Wheatstone and are part of the WheatNet IP Intelligent Network, a complete IP audio ecosystem of consoles, talent stations, I/O units, accessories, virtual tools, and appliances.

LXE with VoxPro option was showcased along with Wheatstone’s line of AoIP studio products at TAB2023 in Austin, booth 302, and at IBC conference in Amsterdam, stand 8.C91.

LAYERS STREAMING SOFTWARE RUNNING ON AWS

Layers Stream

2023 NAB show, Wheatstone presented a cloud version of Layers Stream running on Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the first practical use of cloud for broadcast applications.

Layers Stream software includes stream provisioning, audio processing and metadata support. It is part of the Wheatstone Layers Software Suite, which also has software modules for running instances of FM/HD processing and mixing in cloud data centers such as AWS or on-premise servers.

Layers streaming instances running in AWS can be brought up rapidly and torn down rapidly and controlled through a browser-like user interface. Layers Stream includes audio processing designed specifically for streaming applications and Lua transformation filters to convert metadata input from any automation system into any required output format, including Triton Digital, for transmission to a CDN.

Wheatstone’s Layers Software Suite also has a Layers FM module and a Layers Mix module for radio and television. Layers Mix has a full-featured mix engine and Glass virtual mixers for the laptop, tablet or touchscreen with routing, logic, automixing and full native IP audio integration with major automation systems.

Layers modules can be used for remote or REMI applications between studios and cloud data centers or for extending studio failover redundancy across multiple cloud data centers. In the case of an on-prem server, Layers Software Suite can replace racks of processors, PCs and mix engines in the rack room.

Wheatstone demonstrated Layers Stream and other cloud applications at NAB 2023, including new LXE console “cloud control” for producing shows in the cloud using Radio.Cloud Live Studio software.
